How to Send Large Music Files to Clients
A file-share page gives a client one place to collect masters, stems and artwork. Organise the package first, then decide who should receive it and how long it should remain available. Send the share link rather than the files as email attachments.
Before you start
Check your available storage and prepare the final files. Use clear version names so a client can distinguish an approved master from an earlier mix.
Steps
Organise the package
Open Files and upload the material you want to deliver. Group related files together and give them readable names. If you use an archive for stems, open it yourself and check that the expected files are present.
Create the share
Select the delivery files and create a share. Choose the intended recipients and review the available password, expiry and download-limit settings. Use settings that give the client enough time to collect the work.
Check the recipient view
Preview the shared package and check its file names and instructions. Tell the recipient which version is final and what to do if a file is missing. Send a password separately when you use one.
Follow up on delivery
Use the share’s download records to check recipient activity. If access should end, revoke the relevant recipient’s access. To collect files from a collaborator instead, use a file request on a plan that includes it.
Check
Keep the original files backed up. Before replacing a delivered version, make its new name clear and tell the client which package to use. A successful upload alone does not prove the recipient has collected it.
